Advancing Fehm e Quran Teaching Across Lahore

The HEC National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) held a one-day Fehm e Quran training workshop at the Seerat Centre in Lahore, bringing together Arabic and Islamic Studies faculty from public and private higher education institutions to strengthen delivery of the mandatory two-credit-hour Fehm e Quran course.

The regional programme concentrated on sharpening conceptual clarity, sharing effective pedagogical approaches and deepening reflective engagement (Tadabbur) with the Quran so that faculty can translate these methods into improved classroom practice for the Fehm e Quran syllabus.

Mr. Irfan Sheeraz, Deputy Director of the Seerat Centre, opened the workshop and highlighted the need to move beyond rote recitation toward a meaningful, contextual understanding of the Holy Quran that students can relate to their studies and daily life.

During closing remarks, Dr. Uzma Qureshi, Vice Chancellor of Lahore College for Women University, commended HEC for organising the timely training and emphasised the role of universities in promoting values-based education. She urged participating faculty to implement the workshop’s learning outcomes across their institutions.

Participants from both public and private sectors engaged in sessions on course design, assessment and student engagement aimed at embedding Tadabbur and critical reflection within Fehm e Quran instruction, strengthening the capacity of higher education to deliver this compulsory course effectively.
