Lawyers Mobilize Ahead of Punjab Bar Council Vote

Barrister Danyal Chaudhry highlighted the pivotal role of the legal community in safeguarding democratic values, upholding the rule of law and ensuring access to justice as attention turns to the upcoming Punjab Bar Council elections.

Speaking outside the Rawalpindi Judicial Complex, he said the Punjab Bar Council vote will have far-reaching effects on the legal fraternity and the broader judicial framework, and expressed confidence that candidates committed to judicial independence and national harmony would prevail.

He pointed to the recent success of the government-supported panel in Supreme Court Bar Association elections as evidence of the legal community’s dedication to stability and the supremacy of law, and urged sustained collaboration between lawyers and the state to strengthen institutions.

On international matters, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and urged an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians, especially children in Gaza. He affirmed Pakistan’s readiness to assist affected civilians and to raise their plight on international platforms.

Discussing regional security, he disclosed that Pakistan has held three rounds of detailed talks with Afghan authorities focused on counterterrorism and stability, stressing that terrorism remains an unequivocal red line and that Pakistan will not compromise on this issue.

Addressing cross-border tensions, he condemned alleged proxy and terrorist activities from across the Indian border as unacceptable and warned that Pakistan will respond decisively to any threats to its territory, while stressing the government’s focus on development and national progress.

Locally, he announced the revival of the long-delayed Kachahri Chowk project in Rawalpindi and plans to build two parking plazas for lawyers, new chambers and a signal-free road to improve traffic flow and public convenience, measures meant to support the legal community and court users alike.

He also reflected on the country’s recent economic trajectory under the PML-N administration led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, saying that macroeconomic stability and restored international credibility have put Pakistan on a firmer footing as institutions and development projects move forward.
