Launching Youth Friendly Space at University of Peshawar
UNFPA Pakistan‘s Country Representative Dr. Luay A. Shabaneh inaugurated the Aghaz Adolescent & Youth Friendly Space at the Social Work Department of the University of Peshawar, opening a new resource for students and young people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Youth Friendly Space aims to create a favourable, inclusive environment where adolescents can make informed decisions about their health, well-being and future. The facility will address sexual and reproductive health and rights, mental health, gender-based violence and social inclusion through accessible information and support.
UNFPA and the University of Peshawar reaffirmed their commitment to safe, supportive learning opportunities as the space complements campus services and wider outreach efforts for youth across the province.
The initiative was established by UNFPA Pakistan and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Pakistan in collaboration with SRSP, bringing together international support and local implementation to benefit the adolescent population.
Officials said the Youth Friendly Space will serve students and the surrounding youth community by providing information, guidance and referral pathways while promoting inclusion and resilience across the region.
