Community Legal Awareness Events Empower Women in Larkana

**CPDI and SEWA Host Events to Promote Legal Awareness and Combat Violence Against Women in Larkana**

The Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI), in partnership with SEWA Development Trust – Sindh and supported by The Asia Foundation, recently organized two significant events at the Shaaf Institute of Medical and Modern Sciences (SIMMS) in Larkana. Aimed at strengthening community engagement and advancing justice sector reforms, these initiatives focused on addressing violence against women and improving access to legal information.

The first event, an Innovative Community Learning Platform, was facilitated by Project Focal Person Mr. Muhammad Yaseen. The session centered on violence against women (VAW), encouraging participants to delve into the underlying causes of such violence and explore practical prevention strategies. In addition, the discussion highlighted critical referral mechanisms for reporting incidents and pursuing redress, equipping community members with vital knowledge and resources necessary to support survivors and prevent future cases.

Complementing the educational platform, a Mobile Legal Awareness Camp provided free legal consultations to local residents. Led by advocates Mr. Muhammad Mohsin Shaikh, Mr. Junaid Ahmed Shaikh, and Ms. Sobiha Naz, the camp offered attendees—particularly women—personalized legal advice addressing their specific concerns and challenges. This initiative aimed to empower women by enhancing their understanding of legal rights and strengthening their ability to seek justice.

Together, these collaborative efforts fostered community participation, raised awareness about women’s legal protections, and reinforced the broader mission of the Justice Sector Support Program to promote access to justice in the region.
