Driving Health Services Academy Expansion

In Islamabad, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shehzad Ali Khan met with acting President and Senate chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani to discuss the current and planned initiatives of the Health Services Academy. The meeting focused on strengthening the institution’s role in delivering practical health education and reaching underserved areas.

Mr. Gilani urged an accelerated rollout of skills-based programmes and the establishment of additional campuses so that students in remote and peripheral regions can benefit from the Health Services Academy’s training. Expanding hands-on courses and local campuses was highlighted as essential to building a resilient health workforce across Pakistan.

The acting President also praised the comprehensive briefings provided by the Health Services Academy to the Senate Standing Committee and later to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Health. He commended the academy’s contributions in training, research and policy advice that support public health planning and government decisions.

Participants agreed that a concerted push to widen the Health Services Academy’s reach, strengthen skills training and foster closer collaboration with parliamentary committees will help improve public health outcomes and provide more equitable access to quality health education nationwide.
