Pakistan IT Exports Break $400M Monthly Record
Pakistan’s information and communication technology sector reached a new high as IT exports hit $437 million in December 2025, marking the first time monthly exports exceeded the $400 million threshold, according to data from the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication.
Minister of State Shaza Fatima Khawaja highlighted the milestone as evidence of rising global demand for Pakistan’s digital services and software solutions. Official figures show IT exports rose 26 percent year-on-year from $348 million in December 2024, while month-on-month growth accelerated by 23 percent, underscoring stronger momentum in the sector.
During the first half of FY2026, cumulative ICT exports reached $2.24 billion, a 20 percent increase compared with the same period last year. Government officials described the technology sector as the strongest contributor to services exports, with sustained IT exports helping diversify the economy and reduce dependence on traditional sectors.
Officials attribute the surge to steady international demand for software development, IT-enabled services and digital solutions offered by Pakistani firms, including a growing freelance and remote services footprint. The gains align with the government’s Tech Destination Pakistan initiative, which aims to position the country as a competitive global technology hub.
The ministry and industry analysts expect the upward trend in IT exports to continue as new measures on skills development, export facilitation and foreign market access take effect, supporting Pakistan’s push to expand its presence in global tech markets.
