Boosting Printing Productivity in Pakistan

Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, Senior Vice President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said enhancing productivity is indispensable for industrial growth, stressing that efficient resource use reduces costs and strengthens competitiveness across manufacturing sectors.

The National Productivity Organization organized a conference on printing productivity and efficient resource utilization at a local hotel under the Ministry of Industries and Production in collaboration with the Asian Productivity Organization, Japan, and the Pakistan Association of Printing and Graphic Arts Industry.

The event brought together NPO Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, Chairman TEVTA Brigadier (R) Muhammad Sajid Khokhar, Japanese programme representative San Satho, and industry figures including Saad Haleem Sheikh, Faraz Ahmed and Aamir, along with public and private sector representatives, business leaders and technical experts.

Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh urged the printing and packaging sector to embrace innovation and global standards so Pakistani companies can compete more effectively in export markets. He noted that cutting waste directly lowers industrial costs and raises profitability, while sustainable growth depends on adopting modern, scientific production methods.

Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry highlighted that improving productivity is crucial for national development and reported that NPO productivity models were successfully implemented in six printing and packaging firms, yielding significant waste reduction and measurable cost savings. He reiterated NPO’s commitment to continue supporting industrial productivity initiatives.

Brigadier (R) Muhammad Sajid Khokhar said industries need a steady supply of skilled youth and that TEVTA is playing a pivotal role in preparing a trained workforce to meet sector demands.

Speakers presented successful case studies from six companies and experts emphasized efficient resource use, waste minimization, cost savings and principles of sustainable industrial development. The conference promoted modern techniques such as Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing for improved printing productivity, provided practical guidance and technical awareness, shared demo project results and screened a documentary on energy conservation and environmental benefits. Shields were presented to distinguished guests at the close of the event.
