Youth Council Pakistan Elevates Youth Diplomacy

The Youth Council Pakistan convened an International Parliamentary and Diplomatic Reception in Islamabad on 2 February 2026, bringing together young leaders, diplomats and parliamentarians to promote youth diplomacy on pressing global issues.

Barrister Imran Hussain, Member of the British Parliament, received the Council’s Human Rights Award in recognition of his advocacy for justice and the dignity of oppressed communities, including in Kashmir and Palestine. In his remarks he said, “I am deeply honoured to receive this award. True peace and prosperity are built on the foundations of justice and universal human rights. Engaging the energy and vision of youth is not an option but a necessity for resolving the great challenges of our time, from climate justice to geopolitical strife.” His acceptance highlighted the role of youth diplomacy in advancing human rights across borders.

The reception also celebrated young and community leaders with Young Leader Awards presented to Sajid Rafique, Vice President of The Youth Council Pakistan; Councillor Kamran Hussain of Bradford, UK; and social activist Mujeeb Achakzai. Business Leader Awards recognised entrepreneurs Malik Ad, Chaudhary Shah Nawaz Gondal, Shah Wali Khan, Asfandyar Khan and Malik Khan Muhammad for their contributions to local enterprise and employment.

President Muhammad Shehzad Khan said the reception underscores the Council’s commitment to empowering young voices and strengthening bilateral relations through youth exchanges. He emphasised that placing climate justice at the heart of dialogue is vital to creating sustainable peace and development, noting that youth diplomacy offers practical pathways to bridge divides and advance joint initiatives.

The event’s delegation included key directors and executive members of The Youth Council Pakistan who coordinated proceedings and engaged visiting diplomats. By centering youth diplomacy and recognising human rights defenders and business leaders, the Council aimed to foster continued cooperation between Pakistani youth and international partners.
