Crackdown on Fake Visa Networks Intensifies

In Islamabad, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with U.S. Ambassador Natalie Baker to advance joint measures against illegal immigration and fake visa networks. The leaders discussed steps to tighten pre-immigration clearance and to enhance practical cooperation between Pakistani and U.S. agencies.

Both sides agreed to expand collaboration at multiple levels, with a particular emphasis on police training and coordinated work among law enforcement agencies. The meeting underlined the importance of an effective pre-immigration clearance system to stem irregular travel to the United States.

It was decided that joint operations will be launched under comprehensive SOPs targeting fake and fraudulent visa networks. Interior Minister Naqvi said a zero-tolerance stance has been adopted against the agent mafia and that U.S. cooperation in disrupting fake visa networks would be welcomed. He added that he is personally overseeing the action against these networks.

The Interior Minister also noted that passports have been hardened through modern technology as part of broader efforts to prevent document fraud. Emphasising that illegal immigration is a serious national concern, he said a full-scale crackdown is underway and that illegal migration to the United States has fallen by 47 percent due to effective government measures.

Ambassador Baker reiterated that the United States places special importance on relations with Pakistan and that both countries share aligned priorities. She said enhanced mutual cooperation, including on matters related to fake visa networks and pre-immigration clearance, will further strengthen bilateral ties.
