Strengthening Pakistan Vietnam Trade Ties
Islamabad, January 20, 2026 — A focused meeting between the Ambassador of Vietnam to Pakistan and the head of Global Trade Expo Centre (GTEC) set a clear agenda to advance Pakistan Vietnam Trade through coordinated initiatives in 2026.
Pham Anh Tuan, Ambassador of Vietnam to Pakistan, met with Mazhar Thathal, Chairman and CEO of GTEC Pakistan, in Islamabad. The delegation from the Embassy included Thanh Truong, Head of Mission, and the Commercial Attaché, while GTEC was represented by Liaqat Ali Thathal, Director International Trade and Relations, and Tahir Ashraf Mughal. Discussions centred on practical measures to expand bilateral commerce and business linkages.
Mazhar Thathal praised the strong trade capacity of Vietnamese firms and highlighted Vietnam’s modern, innovation-driven approach to global markets. He reiterated GTEC’s role in creating measurable platforms that connect Pakistani exporters, SMEs and women entrepreneurs with international buyers, underlining the organisation’s commitment to broaden Pakistan Vietnam Trade opportunities.
Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan welcomed GTEC’s inclusive agenda and expressed Vietnam’s interest in enhanced economic engagement with Pakistan. Mr. Thanh Truong emphasised Vietnam’s readiness to pursue joint collaborations, active participation in trade exhibitions and the organisation of trade delegations to facilitate B2B linkages and new commercial channels between the two countries.
Both sides agreed to work closely on upcoming trade missions and exhibition participation to translate discussions into transactions and to expand bilateral trade volumes. The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to advance practical initiatives that deepen economic cooperation and create tangible benefits for Pakistani exporters and Vietnamese partners in 2026.
