Elevating Medical Education Standards with CPSP
The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan hosted a dinner attended by presidents and heads of postgraduate medical education from 26 countries as part of CPSP’s International Conference on Medical Education. Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti, chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, addressed the gathering and thanked the visiting delegation on behalf of Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and himself.
In his remarks the senator praised CPSP for setting strong regional benchmarks in postgraduate medical education and urged that international best practices be adapted and implemented across Pakistan to deliver measurable benefits to patients and strengthen professional competence. He emphasized that learning from global experience is essential to improving healthcare delivery locally.
Senator Chishti engaged with presidents and senior representatives from the Royal Colleges of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Canada, Thailand and South Africa, and with the president of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), acknowledging their contributions to advancing medical education. Prof. Rashid Latif attended as guest of honor, and Prof. Andrew Elder of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh expressed gratitude to CPSP on behalf of the international visitors.
Speakers highlighted CPSP’s leadership role in the region and called for sustained collaboration to turn conference recommendations into concrete reforms. Senator Chishti reiterated his personal commitment to CPSP’s mission of promoting excellence in postgraduate medical education and service to humanity, signaling continued support for initiatives that raise healthcare standards across Pakistan.
