Shaping Ethical AI in Higher Education

Dr Huma Rauf, Registrar of Rawalpindi Women University, and Dr Ibtisam Butt, Controller of Examinations, represented the university at a high-level roundtable on the ethical use of artificial intelligence in higher education convened by the Punjab Higher Education Commission at Kohsar University Murree.

The meeting, organised in collaboration with UET Taxila, National University of Modern Languages Islamabad and The Queen’s University of Belfast under the UPGAIN project, concentrated on the development of a policy framework for AI use in HEIs and on practical steps to embed Ethical AI across campus functions.

Vice chancellors, deans, senior faculty and policy experts from across Punjab took part in deliberations about responsible, inclusive and future-ready integration of AI into teaching, assessment and institutional governance, stressing safeguards and alignment with emerging standards.

RWU’s participation underlines the university’s commitment to ethical innovation and academic leadership, with a clear focus on aligning institutional practice to global governance trends and ensuring that Ethical AI principles guide research, learning and administration.
