Deepening UNODC Pakistan Cooperation

UNODC Pakistan and Pakistani authorities have collaborated for over 50 years to strengthen criminal justice responses and confront drug trafficking, organized crime, corruption and terrorism. That long-standing partnership underpins technical support, institutional capacity building and joint efforts aimed at protecting communities across the country.

During Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif‘s visit to the United Nations in Vienna, UNODC Acting Executive Director John Brandolino signed a new agreement to expand cooperation between UNODC and Pakistan. The accord is intended to broaden support for criminal justice reforms and deepen joint action on countering narcotics and transnational crime.

At a high-level event following the signing, leaders highlighted that strong institutions and respect for the rule of law are essential for peace, security and long-term prosperity. Officials said the renewed partnership will reinforce Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutions, improve legal frameworks and enhance coordinated responses to organized crime and corruption.
