The recent floods in Pakistan have caused massive devastation, displacing millions, destroying homes and crops and turning daily life upside down for whole communities. In Kasur, one of the hardest-hit districts of Punjab where nearly 4.7 million people have been affected, residents face immediate shortages of food and basic supplies.
Dr. Samuel Rizk, Resident Representative of UNDPinPakistan, joined local partners in Ganda Singh Wala village to deliver emergency food relief to families of all faiths. The distribution aimed to reach those most in need quickly while coordinating with community leaders to ensure fair and dignified access to aid.
While emergency food assistance addresses urgent needs, relief teams stress that it is only the first step. UNDP is working closely with government agencies and local partners to support recovery efforts and strengthen resilience, prioritising the most vulnerable households to reduce future risk and improve preparedness.
As relief continues in Kasur, the focus remains on combining immediate support with longer-term recovery and resilience measures so that affected communities can rebuild safer, recover livelihoods and be better prepared for future disasters.
