Prime Minister Laptop Scheme Empowers FUUAST Students

In Islamabad students of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology received laptops under the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme at a ceremony held on Tuesday, with a total of 390 students benefitting in this cohort.

Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar attended as the chief guest and, together with Vice Chancellor Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari, personally distributed the devices to the students to support their studies and research.

Speaking at the event, Wajiha Qamar said the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is to transform the future of Pakistan’s youth by connecting them with the world through modern technology. She emphasised that the Prime Minister Laptop initiative enables learners to access global knowledge and educational resources from home.

She praised the university’s progress in higher education and research and announced that the government will soon provide a bailout package to assist the institution’s development and address its financial challenges.

Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari said the university is fulfilling its mission of promoting education and research in Urdu as the national language while contributing to national development. He thanked the government and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for equipping students with laptops, calling the step important for strengthening academic and research capabilities, and urged students to use the devices for study and public service.

Campus Incharge Dr Saba Bashir congratulated the recipients and encouraged them to make full use of the opportunity to enhance their learning and research pursuits through digital tools provided under the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme.
