Pakistan Lacrosse Women Break New Ground

The Pakistan women’s lacrosse team captured the silver medal at the Asian Lacrosse Games 2026 in Riyadh, marking the country’s first-ever international appearance in the sport and a landmark moment for Pakistan lacrosse. Competing against experienced Asian sides, the squad reached the final through grit, discipline and tactical composure despite limited resources and no substitute players.

Fiza Zahir finished the tournament as the top scorer with 24 goals, a performance that proved decisive in tight matches and lifted the team’s profile across the region. The medal ceremony was attended by Mr. Fahad, President of the Saudi Lacrosse Federation, who presented the medals in recognition of the team’s achievement.

The players credited strong leadership and support from their staff, notably coach Mr. Irfan Khan and team manager Mr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas Shah, whose planning and dedication helped the side punch above its weight. Chef de Mission Engr. Taifoor Zarin ensured the delegation’s smooth participation, while Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Khan, President of the Pakistan Lacrosse Federation, hailed the silver as a major milestone for women’s sports and the development of Pakistan lacrosse.

This success is already reshaping expectations at home, inspiring young women across Pakistan to explore lacrosse and signaling a new chapter for the sport’s grassroots growth. The squad’s resilience in Riyadh underscores the potential for Pakistan lacrosse to expand with greater investment, coaching and competitive exposure going forward.
