Boosting Industrial Growth through PIDC

Haroon Akhtar Khan visited the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation to review its performance and ongoing projects as part of efforts to implement the government’s new industrial policy. The CEO of PIDC briefed Mr Khan on current initiatives and plans designed to strengthen the industrial base and generate employment across Pakistan.

The meeting examined key projects including the Master Plan for Karachi Industrial Park, the land lease policy for Bin Qasim Industrial Park and the plan to establish a customs bonded warehouse. Officials outlined timelines and priorities for these developments and discussed how they will support export growth and attract fresh investment.

Mr Khan stressed that PIDC remains the backbone of Pakistan’s industrial structure and will play a central role in translating the new industrial policy into concrete outcomes. He cited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for a resilient manufacturing sector and said the Karachi Industrial Park is a strategic asset that will broaden export capacity and deepen the industrial ecosystem.

Under the new industrial policy, greater facilitation will be extended to local industries and PIDC’s coordination will be essential for effective implementation. The Special Assistant reaffirmed the government’s commitment to industrial reforms, transparency and modern infrastructure while underscoring that efficiency and accountability in PIDC projects are top priorities. A comprehensive strategy is being developed to make PIDC more effective and dynamic in driving sustainable industrial growth.
