Expanding FCPS Induction for Doctors
Dr. Rafey Sher met with MNA Farhan Chishti to outline pressing concerns affecting the medical community and to seek concrete steps toward relief. Central to the discussion was the urgent need to increase FCPS induction seats so that qualified candidates can access specialist training without prolonged delay. The focus on boosting FCPS induction was framed as essential to sustaining career progression for young doctors across Pakistan.
The meeting also examined challenges faced by foreign medical graduates, who often confront protracted and cumbersome licensing procedures before they can practice. Streamlining medical licensing and improving credential recognition were presented as priorities to integrate overseas-trained doctors into the healthcare system more efficiently, while maintaining professional standards.
MNA Farhan Chishti responded positively to the concerns raised, acknowledging the long hours and commitment shown by doctors and pledging to advocate for policy and administrative measures to ease licensing, expand FCPS induction opportunities, and address obstacles to professional recognition. He emphasized working collaboratively with medical leaders to identify workable solutions that balance patient safety with fair access to training and practice.
Participants described the meeting as part of an ongoing dialogue between medical representatives and policymakers aimed at translating frontline concerns into tangible reforms. The session underlined a shared commitment to improve pathways for specialist training and to remove unnecessary barriers for foreign medical graduates, reflecting a continued effort to strengthen Pakistan’s healthcare workforce.
