Dr. Urooj Shakir and Mr. Masood Anwar accompanied seventh semester Environmental Sciences and Geophysics students from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at BUIC on an educational visit to S&P Global in Islamabad. The S&P Global visit gave students a close-up view of the company’s core functions and how global data and analytics inform decision making in finance and geoscience sectors.
During the visit, students were briefed on career paths and technical roles relevant to geoscience and environmental science, with practical insights into the skills employers seek. The S&P Global visit also included a round of interviews conducted by company representatives, offering selected students direct consideration for future hiring and internships.
The trip strengthened academia–industry linkage by exposing BUIC students to real-world expectations and networking opportunities in Islamabad’s professional landscape. The experience is expected to help participating students better align their academic training with emerging career prospects in geoscience and related fields.
