PFF Meetings Advance Global Partnerships Ahead of FIFA
The Pakistan Football Federation delegation led by president Syed Mohsen Gilani, accompanied by vice-president Hafiz Zakaullah and Chief Operating Officer Shahid Niaz Khokhar, held a series of high-level talks in Vancouver following the 36th AFC Congress as they prepare for the 76th FIFA Congress. These PFF meetings on Tuesday focused on practical cooperation to strengthen football infrastructure and human resource development in Pakistan.
In talks with German Football Association president Bernd Neuendorf, the DFB pledged comprehensive support in coaches education and the development of women’s football, extending invitations for Pakistani players and coaches to visit Germany to learn within its advanced football ecosystem. The emphasis on coach education aligns with PFF goals to raise technical standards across domestic programmes.
The delegation also met Canada Soccer president Peter Augroso, with PFF leadership expressing gratitude for Canada’s hospitality during the FIFA events. Discussions covered collaboration on grassroots initiatives and coach education courses, and explored an exhibition series that would engage the Pakistani community in Canada, offering opportunities for exposure and talent identification.
China Football Association president Song Kai praised bilateral ties between the two countries as ‘Iron Brothers’ and offered support for futsal training, with plans for a follow-up meeting after the World Cup and an invitation to visit Pakistan. The Tajikistan Football Federation, represented by vice-president Dzhalilov Iskandor, proposed referee training and specialised goalkeeper coaching while also expressing interest in partnerships to advance women’s football. Collectively, the outcomes of these PFF meetings signal tangible steps toward capacity building and increased international engagement for Pakistan football.
