Zakat Foundation of America Delivers Relief and Recovery to Flood Victims

The Zakat Foundation of America has launched a comprehensive relief and recovery operation for communities in Swat, Buner, and Mansehra that were hit hard by catastrophic flash floods. The disaster, triggered by sudden cloudbursts, led to the destruction of thousands of homes, loss of crops, and severe disruptions to local businesses and livelihoods.
In the immediate aftermath, the foundation’s relief teams were among the first to arrive in the affected areas, distributing cooked meals, household essentials, and other necessities to families who had been displaced from their homes. In Swat, volunteers worked tirelessly to clear mud and debris from numerous homes inundated by floodwaters, helping residents begin the process of returning to normal life.
Recognizing that recovery extends beyond initial emergency aid, the foundation quickly shifted focus to long-term solutions in Buner and Mansehra. New livelihood restoration programs were established, offering skill-based training to young people and targeted support to help families rebuild small businesses. This support has included the repair and replacement of rickshaws, bicycles, and other tools essential for household income.
By combining swift humanitarian assistance with ongoing rehabilitation measures, the Zakat Foundation of America aims to help flood-affected families not only recover from immediate losses but also regain economic stability and restore hope for the future.
