AI Workshop at Punjab University Celebrates Partnership

Consul General Stetson Sanders joined students and faculty at Punjab University’s Hailey College of Commerce to mark the closing ceremony of a collaborative artificial intelligence workshop funded by a U.S. Public Diplomacy grant. The program brought together American and Pakistani institutions to strengthen research, institutional capacity, and professional skills in AI.
The closing event took place at Hailey College of Commerce and included participants from Punjab University and Lahore College for Women University. Consul General Sanders attended to recognize the achievements of students and faculty who completed the workshop and to highlight the partnerships that made the program possible.
The workshop was financed through a Public Diplomacy grant awarded to Stillman College in the United States. Designed to foster collaborative research and institutional capacity building, the initiative offered targeted training and professional development in AI—one of the fastest-growing and most impactful areas of technology today.
Partner institutions worked together to deliver a curriculum aimed at practical skills development, research collaboration, and strengthening academic programs. Participants gained hands-on experience and built networks intended to support ongoing collaboration between Pakistani universities and their U.S. counterparts.
Organizers said the initiative underscores the value of international educational partnerships in preparing a skilled workforce and advancing technological innovation. The completion of the workshop was welcomed as a step forward in promoting shared learning, institutional development, and continued cooperation between the United States and Pakistan in higher education and workforce development.
