Federal Health Minister Backs Robotic Surgery Rollout

Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal said he plans to introduce the world’s latest surgical techniques, including robotic surgery, across federal hospitals after a briefing at PIMS. The minister met with Professor S. H. Waqar, head of the surgery department, and was briefed on new surgical methods, recent innovations and plans to expand robotic operations at the institute.

During the meeting Professor Waqar outlined PIMS’s initiatives to adopt advanced surgical procedures and described the potential benefits of robotic surgery. He explained how these technologies can enhance surgical precision, reduce invasiveness and speed patient recovery, and presented the institute’s roadmap for implementing them.

Minister Mustafa Kamal expressed strong interest in robotic surgery, calling its adoption an important step toward modernizing medical services in federal hospitals. He emphasized the need to accelerate improvements at PIMS and to monitor progress closely.

The minister said he will visit PIMS soon to personally review ongoing work and assess developments. He also pledged to upgrade surgery departments in other federal hospitals so that modern surgical practices become widely available across the federal health system.
