NBP Secures UnionPay Award for Marketing Impact
National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has secured the UnionPay Award for Strategic Contribution in Marketing Promotion, a recognition of the bank’s successful campaigns to promote card use and digital services nationwide. The award was presented by Mr. Nadeem Haroon, Country Head UPI for Pakistan, Qatar, Bahrain and Afghanistan, to Mr. Rehmat Ali Hasnie, President & CEO of NBP, underscoring the bank’s growing role in Pakistan’s payments ecosystem.
Senior NBP leadership joined the celebration, including Mr. Adnan Nasir, SEVP and Chief Digital Officer, Mr. Fouad Farrukh, SEVP and Group Chief of Aitemaad Islamic Banking, Mr. Faisal Ahmed Topra, SEVP Retail Banking, Mr. Imran Farooqui, SEVP and Group Chief Operations, and Mr. Nabeel Aslam, SVP and Wing Head – Cards. Representatives from UnionPay International included Mr. Kashif Ali, Head of Business Development for Pakistan and Bahrain, and Mr. Muhammad Ali Abbas, Senior Manager for Pakistan, Afghanistan and Qatar, while Mr. Fahad Mahmood, CEO of Decagon Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd., also attended.
The recognition highlights NBP’s marketing collaboration with Golootlo, Pakistan’s leading discount platform offering over 30,000 merchant discounts across the country. Through this partnership NBP launched multiple campaigns aimed at staff and customers that increased debit card transactions, supported digital adoption and strengthened customer engagement in both urban centres and regional markets.
This marks NBP’s fifth major UnionPay Award following earlier honours for highest debit card issuance, highest POS spend, highest number of active POS users and highest virtual cards. The achievement reinforces NBP’s commitment to digital banking innovation, customer convenience and impactful marketing initiatives that advance Pakistan’s payment infrastructure.
