Championing Local Vaccine Development at DUHS
Federal Minister for National Health Syed Mustafa Kamal visited Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) today to inspect the vaccination centre and the research laboratory, underlining the government’s focus on strengthening Pakistan’s vaccine capabilities.
During the visit the minister reviewed ongoing studies and production work for a locally developed vaccine, praising the efforts of DUHS researchers and expressing a firm commitment to promoting local vaccine manufacturing and accompanying research across the country.
He described the vaccination centre and research lab as operational to international standards, noting that such facilities are vital to accelerate vaccine availability and self-reliance in Pakistan. The minister emphasised that investment in local vaccine development will remain a priority.
Present during the inspection were Professor Iftikhar, Principal of Dow International Medical College; Professor Dr Izhar, Head of the Research Center; Professor Dr Ashrafaq, Registrar of DUHS; and Dr Khawar Mahdi, who accompanied the minister throughout the tour.
