Gilani Family Represents Pakistan at CPC
Islamabad, 9 October 2025 — At the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Bridgetown, Barbados, Pakistan’s delegation carries a distinctive mark of family representation as three members of the Gilani family participate on behalf of the country.
Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani is representing the Senate of Pakistan at the Commonwealth forum, while Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani serves as Pakistan’s voice in the National Assembly. Representing the provincial legislature, Syed Ali Haider Gilani attends on behalf of the Punjab Assembly. This configuration brings simultaneous representation from the upper house, the lower house and a provincial assembly.
The Gilani representation at the conference is being viewed as a historic moment for Pakistan’s parliamentary diplomacy. Having members from the Senate, National Assembly and Punjab Assembly together provides an opportunity to present a coordinated parliamentary perspective on matters discussed at the Commonwealth platform.
In Bridgetown the Gilani family is offering a unified stance that reflects federal and provincial viewpoints, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to engagement within the Commonwealth parliamentary community. Observers note that such collective participation highlights the interplay between national and provincial legislatures in shaping Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach in parliamentary settings.
