Driving SCO meeting cooperation in Bishkek
From October 14 to 17, 2025, the first meeting of the Council of National Coordinators under the Kyrgyz presidency convened in Bishkek. The SCO meeting gathered national coordinators of ten Member States alongside representatives of the SHOS Secretariat and the Executive Committee of the Regional Counter-Terrorist Organization to discuss priorities for the coming year.
Delegates considered the detailed plan for the Kyrgyz Republic’s 2025–2026 presidency and exchanged views on measures to improve the Organisation’s practical work. Conversations addressed ways to strengthen cooperation across political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, and emphasised the importance of concrete follow-up actions to translate policy into results.
Preparation for the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers), scheduled in Moscow in November 2025, was a central focus as coordinators outlined tasks and timelines. For Pakistan as an SCO Member State, the Bishkek discussions offer avenues to deepen regional engagement and advance joint initiatives, while counter-terrorism cooperation under the Regional Counter-Terrorist Organization remained a key shared priority during the SCO meeting.
