Defending Kashmir Self Determination

On 27 October, observed as Kashmir Black Day, Dr Nafeesa Shah reminded the nation of the decades-long sacrifices of Kashmiri people who have resisted oppression and injustice. She urged renewed commitment to the cause of Kashmir self-determination and paid tribute to the courage and resilience shown by families across the Valley.

Dr Nafeesa Shah highlighted the Pakistan Peoples Party’s long-standing support for the Kashmiri cause, noting that from Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari the party has remained a vocal advocate for Kashmir self-determination. She said this legacy underscores the PPP’s continued political and moral support for the people of Kashmir.

Describing Kashmir as the nation’s jugular vein, Dr Nafeesa Shah offered respects to those who have laid down their lives and to those who continue the struggle. She emphasized that the sacrifices of Kashmiri citizens strengthen Pakistan’s resolve to stand by their right to determine their future.

Recalling 27 October as a dark chapter when Indian forces struck at Kashmiri aspirations for freedom, Dr Nafeesa Shah said that the Kashmiri struggle endures with undiminished determination. She called on political leaders and citizens to keep advocating for Kashmir self-determination and to honour the bravery of those who continue to pursue it.
