Advancing Nutrition Science for Food Security

Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (HI, SI), Chairman of the Punjab Higher Education Commission, attended the inaugural session of the International Conference on “Nutrition in a Changing World: Advancing Science in Food & Nutrition” as Chief Guest. The conference brought together leading experts, researchers and professionals to examine emerging trends, challenges and innovations in food and nutritional sciences.

Speaking at the session, Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan urged a stronger link between academic research and field-level practice, noting that nutrition science must be translated into practical solutions. He highlighted the need for universities, research centres and industry partners in Pakistan to collaborate closely so that scientific findings can directly inform programmes that improve dietary outcomes and resilience.

Delegates explored ways to advance research methodologies and to align scientific work with policy and community needs. By prioritizing nutrition science and fostering cross-sector cooperation, the PHEC chairman argued, Pakistan can better tackle global nutrition challenges and enhance national food security in a rapidly changing world.
