Campus Campaign Tackles Anti Narcotics at IUB

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur held its first Anti Narcotics Awareness Seminar on 27 November 2025 at the Anatomy Hall, Khawaja Fareed Campus, bringing together students, faculty and representatives of the Counter Narcotics Force Bahawalpur.

The session opened with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Memona Ameen of the Qirat & Naat Society and a devotional Naat by Hafiz Asad Hafeez, setting a solemn tone for discussions on prevention and community responsibility. Prof. Dr. Fiaz-ud-Din Ahmed, Advisor of the IUB Anti-Narcotics & Health Care Society, formally welcomed the guest speaker and underlined the university’s commitment to anti narcotics education and the active role of the Anti-Narcotics Committee on campus.

Lt. Col. Nisar Ahmed Satti TI (M) of the Counter Narcotics Force delivered a detailed presentation on the functioning of the ANF, highlighting major narcotics control case reports and explaining the harmful physiological effects of narcotics. The talk combined operational insight with clear public-health messages to help students recognise risks and support prevention efforts in their communities.

Students from multiple departments engaged throughout the seminar, asking informed questions and discussing practical strategies to reduce drug abuse on campus. The guest speaker praised the students’ participation and expressed a willingness to continue collaboration with the IUB Anti-Narcotics & Health Care Society to expand awareness initiatives.

In closing remarks Prof. Dr. Qaiser Jabeen, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Medicines & Allied Health Sciences, thanked the guest speaker, Prof. Dr. Fiaz-ud-Din and Hamid Rasool, President of the IUB Anti-Narcotics & Health Care Society, for organising an impactful seminar. Shields were presented to the Guest Speaker and Chief Guest as tokens of appreciation, and faculty members including Mr. Qamar-ul-Zaman (DDSA, Khawaja Fareed Campus), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akhtar (Professor of Pharmaceutics and Incharge, Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics) and Hafiz Muhammad Zubair joined the event alongside many students who benefited from the awareness session.
