Advancing Disability Inclusion with Turkiye Partnership

Islamabad, December 3, 2025: The Turkiye Embassy marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with a gathering that reaffirmed its commitment to disability inclusion across Pakistan. Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu welcomed representatives from diverse organisations and communities and pledged full support for accessibility and inclusive participation in all segments of society.

Dr. Neziroglu stressed that fostering disability-inclusive societies is essential for social progress and promised strengthened cooperation between Pakistan and Turkiye. He underlined the importance of joint initiatives, shared expertise and mutual solidarity to remove barriers and expand opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Participants included people with physical disabilities, the visually impaired, and those with speech and hearing impairments, alongside media representatives who attended the event. The ambassador received guests with Turkiye’s traditional warmth, emphasising programs that promote accessibility, inclusive education and greater participation of persons with disabilities in public and professional life.

Asmatullah Niazi of the National Press Club highlighted the everyday difficulties faced by persons with disabilities in Pakistan and urged clear, enforceable accessibility plans nationwide. He argued that true inclusion requires defined standards and sustained state action so that accessibility becomes the hallmark of an inclusive society.

Speakers from the Special Talent Exchange Program, including Ambia Akram and Muhammad Atif, called for closer collaboration between Turkish and Pakistani civil society and for leveraging technology to improve access and services. They said sharing Turkiye’s experiences and accessibility innovations can accelerate progress for persons with disabilities in both countries.

The embassy event reinforced a shared agenda for disability inclusion, with commitments to launch collaborative projects, promote inclusive education and expand technological solutions. Participants and organisers agreed that ongoing Pakistan-Turkiye cooperation will be central to building accessible environments where no one is left behind.
