Promoting Pashtoon Culture in New York

The Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamer Ahmed Atozai, attended Pashtoon Culture Day hosted by the Khyber Society of America, where local parliamentarians, assembly women, community leaders, professionals and journalists joined Pakistani Americans and Pashtoons from across the United States to celebrate cultural heritage through music, art and traditional expressions.

In remarks to attendees the Consul General praised the Khyber Society of America for its sustained commitment to community welfare, noting the organisation’s role in strengthening social cohesion, delivering humanitarian assistance and preserving cultural identity among the diaspora. He highlighted the Society’s practical efforts to connect families and professionals while keeping Pashtoon Culture alive abroad.

Mr Atozai observed that Pashtoon Culture, with roots extending back thousands of years, is characterised by a deep sense of community, hospitality and resilience. He stressed that cultural gatherings such as this one play an essential role in reinforcing bonds among overseas Pakistanis and in fostering greater understanding with other communities in the United States.

The Consulate reaffirmed its support for community initiatives that promote Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage and contribute to the wellbeing of the diaspora. The event in New York on 6 December 2025 underscored the continuing importance of cultural preservation and transnational ties for Pashtoon communities across the US.
