Aibak Polo Cup Opens With Thrilling Wins

LAHORE (February 3, 2026) The 49th Aibak Polo Cup got under way at the Lahore Polo Club in partnership with sponsor Ecostar, drawing large crowds and families keen to watch high-calibre polo. The tournament’s opening day produced two closely fought matches that set a competitive tone for the week ahead.

In the first match FG Polo edged BN Polo 7.5 to 6 in a tight contest. Raja Mikayial Sami powered FG Polo with four fine goals while Marcos Rivarola added two goals; FG Polo’s half-goal handicap proved decisive in the final scoreline. For BN Polo, Hamza Mawaz Khan finished with four goals and Ibrahim Khalil contributed one. The two sides will meet again on Thursday for the next four chukkers, with the winner advancing to the final and the loser moving into the subsidiary final.

The second fixture produced dramatic late action as SQ Seagold defeated Master Paints 6-5 in sudden-death extra time settled in the fifth chukker. Raja Samiullah was instrumental for SQ Seagold with three goals, supported by two from Bilal Haye and one from Ahmed Ali Tiwana. Master Paints battled throughout, led by Amirreza Behboudi who scored four goals and Raja Temur Nadeem who added one, but came up just short in extra time.
