Malakand Swimming Moves Forward with New Team

The Malakand Division Swimming Association held its elections in Mingora, culminating in the unanimous selection of a new executive leadership. Nasir Hussain was elected President, Sabir Khan as Secretary General, and Umar Hayat as Finance Secretary, signaling a renewed push for swimming development in the region.

The electoral proceedings were overseen by the Provincial Swimming Association’s Secretary General Javed Marwat, who acted as Election Commissioner. Committee responsibilities during the vote were supported by Asad Khan and Table Tennis Coach Yasir Aziz. The meeting saw participation from Regional Sports Officer Malakand Muhammad Tariq, Peshawar Division Swimming Association President Arshad Orakzai and Secretary General Mubeen Khalil, along with prominent representatives from Swat, Dir, Bajaur, Chitral and adjoining districts.

The new cabinet for Malakand Division includes Nasir Hussain as President, Ikram Hussain and Bushra Bibi as Senior Vice Presidents, Hussain Sardar as Vice President, Sabir Khan as Secretary General, Afroza Bibi as Information Secretary, Ghazala Naeem as Joint Secretary, with Hanifa Azeem Khan and Waheed Gul named to the Executive Committee. This team is tasked with implementing the division’s immediate plans for swimming promotion and athlete development.

The elections were conducted under directives from Provincial Swimming Association President Captain (R) Khalid Mahmood as part of a broader initiative to establish and strengthen divisional swimming associations across the province. The mandate aims to create a structured pathway for talent identification and competitive opportunities at the divisional level.

Both Nasir Hussain and Sabir Khan committed to prioritizing training, grassroots outreach and support for promising swimmers in Malakand Division. They expressed gratitude to Captain (R) Khalid Mahmood for initiating concrete steps to expand and professionalize swimming in the province and pledged to work collaboratively with regional representatives to nurture local talent.
