Promoting Responsible Social Media Use Among Students
On 12 February 2026 the Ministry of Human Rights together with the Department of Social Work at the University of Karachi held a seminar on campus to raise student awareness about distinguishing between proper and erroneous use of social media, emphasizing the importance of Social Media Responsibility.
Speakers told students that use of social platforms requires a strong sense of responsibility, ethical consideration and wisdom, urging young users to think critically about what they post and share as part of broader Social Media Responsibility.
Panelists warned that misuse of social media is a growing concern that demands collective action, calling on universities, families and community leaders to support awareness sessions and educational programmes that guide and protect youth.
Organisers stressed that regular awareness activities in educational institutions are essential to build digital resilience among students and to foster an ethic of respect and protection of rights in online spaces.
