Free Funeral Transfer Service Starts in Rawalpindi

Rescue 1122 in Rawalpindi has begun a free funeral transfer service following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, with an initial rollout covering three districts including Rawalpindi. The new free funeral transfer initiative aims to provide timely and dignified movement of the deceased from government hospitals to family homes, easing logistical burdens for grieving families.

The provincial government has supplied dedicated vehicles to Rescue 1122 to ensure the free funeral transfer runs smoothly and reaches those in need without delay. This service is intended to offer respectful support during difficult moments and reduce immediate costs for families handling end‑of‑life arrangements.

District Emergency Officer Engr. Subghat Ullah handed over the keys to assigned drivers and provided operational guidance, emphasising professional conduct and careful handling during transfers. Drivers and field staff have been instructed to maintain dignity and privacy while coordinating with hospital and family representatives.

Residents in Rawalpindi seeking the free funeral transfer can call the Rescue 1122 helpline at 1122 to request assistance. The service is part of ongoing efforts by Rescue 1122 to expand public welfare measures and deliver practical support in times of need.

Mohammad Usman Gujar, Media Coordinator at Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi, confirmed the launch and encouraged citizens to use the helpline for arranging transfers.
