Driving Inclusive Governance in Punjab

Senator Khalil Tahir Sandhu chaired the third Punjab Inclusive Governance Summit 2026 at the historic Punjab Assembly, speaking to more than 500 participants from over 90 union councils across the province. He commended Shahid Rehmat and the Youth Development Foundation (YDF) for successfully leading the Minority Civic Agents Program, supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which aims to strengthen inclusive governance, minority participation, youth leadership and democratic engagement in Punjab.

Senator Sandhu emphasized the importance of empowering the next generation of Minority Civic Agents and called for continued support to scale training, community outreach and leadership opportunities. He stressed that inclusive governance depends on concrete measures to ensure equal participation of all communities in decision making and public service delivery.

The summit brought together civil society representatives, local leaders and young civic actors to reinforce collaboration between grassroots initiatives and institutional partners. Senator Sandhu highlighted that sustained investment in youth leadership and minority representation will advance responsive local institutions and deepen inclusive governance across Punjab.
