Punjab Bar Council Suspends Advocate’s Licence Over Allegations Under Review
The Punjab Bar Council (PBC) has suspended the licence of Advocate Muhammad Jaleel Malik of Rawalpindi following proceedings before its Disciplinary Committee, according to official documents issued by the Council.
According to the order, a complaint was filed before the Punjab Bar Council alleging that the advocate had been employed as a full-time member of the Punjab Police while also practicing law. The complaint further alleged that material facts relating to his employment status were not disclosed during the process of obtaining a legal licence.
The disciplinary order states that notices were issued to the respondent; however, he did not appear before the Committee during the proceedings referenced in the order. Following its review, the Committee decided to suspend his licence to practice law pending further proceedings.
An official communication issued by the Punjab Bar Council informed relevant judicial authorities and the District Bar Association Rawalpindi that the advocate would not be entitled to practice before courts during the period of suspension.
The disciplinary order also indicates that the matter was fixed for further proceedings and notes that legal action could be initiated in accordance with the law if directions of the Committee were not complied with.
The Punjab Bar Council’s action is based on the allegations and material placed before the Disciplinary Committee. The allegations have not been independently verified by this publication, and no finding of criminal liability has been reported in the documents reviewed.
Efforts to obtain a response from Advocate Muhammad Jaleel Malik were not successful at the time of publication. His version will be included if and when it becomes available.
This report is based on official Punjab Bar Council documents and disciplinary proceedings. All allegations remain subject to legal process and any final determination by the relevant authorities.
