Junior Womens Hockey Championship set for Islamabad

The junior women’s hockey season in Pakistan is set for an important showcase as the Pakistan Hockey Federation has announced the schedule for the Prime Minister National Junior Women’s Hockey Championship 2026. The event will be staged from July 6 to July 9, 2026, at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad.

The championship is being positioned as a major step in the federation’s women’s hockey development effort, with young players from across the country expected to gather in the capital to compete at the national level. For many emerging athletes, the tournament will offer a valuable chance to test their abilities and gain exposure in a competitive environment.

The PHF has invited provincial hockey associations, regional bodies and affiliated departments, including the Pakistan Army, WAPDA, Pakistan Railways and other institutions, to take part in the event. All concerned units have been asked to prepare and register their junior women’s teams within the prescribed format.

According to the federation’s guidelines, each squad may include 16 players along with 2 officials or coaches. The structure is intended to ensure broad participation while keeping the championship organized and competitive.

PHF officials say the junior women’s hockey championship is part of a longer-term plan to identify fresh talent, strengthen the women’s hockey setup and create a pathway for promising players to move toward higher levels of national representation.

With the championship returning to Islamabad, the federation expects the competition to play a meaningful role in widening opportunities for young female athletes and helping build the next generation of players for Pakistan’s women’s hockey future.
