Rawalpindi Division Names 16-Member Squad for Commissioner Cup

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Division Basketball Association (RDBA) has selected a 16-member squad to represent the association in the Commissioner Cup, scheduled to be held in Faisalabad from July 24 to 28, 2026.

According to a press release issued on July 17, the trials were conducted over two days on July 15 and 16 at Lalkurti, Rawalpindi. The selection process was supervised by the selection committee and was also witnessed by National Basketball Coach Malik Muhammad Riaz and a sizeable number of basketball enthusiasts.

The players selected for the squad are Hamad, Hamza, Zeeshan, Noor-uz-Zaman, Sheraz, Moheed, Bilal, Hain Adnan, M Khubaid, Nain Shah, Yazdan, Haseeb, Haider, Aayan Abbasi, Imran and Zakaullah.

RDBA President Imtiaz Rafi Butt told the media that a training camp would begin in Rawalpindi from July 17 and continue until the team’s departure for Faisalabad. He said the camp would be supervised by qualified coaches, adding that the selected players had been directed to report to the camp immediately.

Mr Butt said the championship was aimed at promoting basketball throughout Punjab, with teams from across the province competing for top honours. He added that the event would help strengthen inter-divisional competition and contribute to the continued growth of basketball in the province.
