**Kazakhstan Strengthens Engagement with Afghanistan, President Tasks Envoy with Boosting Cooperation**

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Afghanistan, highlighting the importance of bilateral ties and assigning a key role to the Special Representative of the President for Afghanistan, Mr. Yerkin Tukumov, in facilitating these efforts.

During a recent meeting, President Tokayev underscored the significance of the Special Representative’s position as Kazakhstan adapts to evolving relations with Afghanistan’s current authorities. He emphasized that Mr. Tukumov will be responsible for promoting effective collaboration between the two countries, with a particular focus on expanding trade, economic partnerships, and humanitarian engagement.

The President also highlighted the need to actively utilize the capabilities of the United Nations Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan, headquartered in Almaty. This center is seen as a vital platform for advancing regional cooperation and supporting Afghanistan’s progress.

In addition, President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s intention to maintain and enhance humanitarian and educational programs aimed at aiding Afghanistan’s security and stability. He stressed that these initiatives demonstrate Kazakhstan’s ongoing support for Afghanistan’s development and regional integration.
