**Rawalpindi Authorities Intensify Dengue Prevention Efforts in High-Risk Areas**
Authorities in Rawalpindi have ramped up anti-dengue measures in Union Councils Dhok Munshi and Chak Jalal Din, considered highly sensitive zones for the spread of dengue fever. Special attention is being given to both indoor and outdoor surveillance activities as part of a coordinated campaign to control the potential outbreak and curb the transmission of the dengue virus.
Under the ongoing prevention initiative, a total of 113 indoor teams—58 operating in Dhok Munshi and 55 in Chak Jalal Din—have been deployed to inspect residential premises. These teams are tasked with identifying and eliminating dengue larvae, promptly destroying any found to prevent further breeding. Additionally, 63 outdoor sanitary patrols—38 in Dhok Munshi and 25 in Chak Jalal Din—are actively monitoring public areas for possible breeding sites and taking immediate action where necessary.
In homes where larvae were detected, officials carried out Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) to halt the growth and spread of the virus. Simultaneously, the campaign is raising public awareness through banners at key locations and distribution of informative pamphlets outlining preventive steps against dengue.
The Health Department has appealed to citizens to maintain cleanliness within their homes and surroundings, ensure there is no stagnant water where mosquitoes can breed, and fully cooperate with anti-dengue teams. Officials stressed that such collective efforts are essential to completely eradicate the threat of dengue from the community.
