SCO Youth Council Meeting Highlights Collaboration and Leadership

Leaders of youth organizations from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states convened at the 18th session of the SCO Youth Council, held at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing under the chairmanship of the All-China Youth Federation. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation among young people across member states and exchanging strategies for youth empowerment.
During the session, heads of delegations outlined initiatives and measures being implemented in their respective countries to support the younger generation. Participants also discussed various areas of potential cooperation, presented new projects and initiatives aimed at deepening youth engagement, and exchanged perspectives on pressing issues affecting youth development.
In his opening remarks, Batyr Tursunov, Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO, emphasized the Organization’s strong commitment to fostering youth cooperation. He highlighted the priority that SCO leaders place on educating and nurturing young people, instilling values of patriotism, morality, tolerance, and mutual respect. Special attention, he noted, is being paid to youth employment and protecting young people from negative influences.
Speakers underscored the Youth Council’s pivotal role as a platform for implementing consensus decisions reached by SCO member states in the youth sector. They called for further activation of the Council’s work, reinforcing its function as a unifying body for young people within the framework of the SCO’s “Shanghai Spirit.”
At the close of the session, the chairmanship of the SCO Youth Council officially transitioned from the People’s Republic of China to the Kyrgyz Republic.
