Socio-Economic Challenges for Afghan Refugees in Urban Areas

Relief International has hosted a major workshop in partnership with SSARC-GIZ to address the socio-economic challenges faced by Afghan refugees living in urban areas. The event, held under the MHPSS Digi-Live Support Program, focused on presenting findings from a recent study and developing strategic recommendations to improve support services for refugee communities.

Chaired by Shakeel Muhammad Khan Safi, Commissioner for Afghan Refugees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the workshop brought together a wide range of stakeholders. Participants reviewed comprehensive data highlighting the priority challenges encountered by Afghan refugees and discussed ways to enhance coordination and deliver more effective assistance.

The initiative aimed to facilitate dialogue between key partners and promote collaboration on policies and programs that will strengthen the overall support system for Afghan refugees in selected districts. Organizers emphasized the importance of continued collective effort to ensure that the socio-economic needs of refugee communities are addressed through targeted, well-coordinated interventions.
