SHARP–Pakistan and the Canadian High Commission have held a high-level meeting to address the ongoing Afghan refugee crisis and enhance protection for vulnerable populations. The discussions focused on international humanitarian cooperation, identifying operational challenges, and exploring new strategies to strengthen support programs for Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

Senior representatives from the Canadian High Commission, including Global Engagement Officer Ms. Cindy Lam and Migration & Refugee Coordinator Ms. Roseline Lemire-Cadieux, visited SHARP’s Reception Desk Center. They were given a comprehensive tour by SHARP CEO Mr. Mudassar Javed and met with the organization’s program team, who shared insights into SHARP’s operational structure and core services. The group reviewed the current phase of the International Framework for Refugee Protection (IFRP) and identified areas where operational gaps remain.

Both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening legal aid, offering psychosocial support, and expanding evidence-based advocacy. The meeting also addressed the need for greater technical cooperation, joint advocacy initiatives, and resource mobilization to provide sustainable and dignified solutions for Afghan refugees.

The meeting reaffirmed SHARP’s ongoing commitment to refugee protection and underlined the willingness of both SHARP and the Canadian High Commission to work together on future initiatives that would enhance the safety and well-being of refugees in Pakistan.
