Women Leading Digital Startups in Mardan Pakistan

UN Women Pakistan, in partnership with KOICA, hosted a Digital Startup Roundtable in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to strengthen women’s involvement in the country’s digital sector. The event brought together stakeholders from government agencies, private businesses, academia, and entrepreneurial circles to share insights and discuss ways women are advancing Pakistan’s digital transformation.

Participants included representatives from the Directorate of Science, Technology and Information Technology and the KP Information Technology Board, as well as local private sector micro, small, and medium enterprises through Durshal Mardan. Both Women University Mardan and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan were present, highlighting the importance of academic input in digital innovation.

The Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry Mardan Division, tech startup founders, and young women entrepreneurs also took part in the discussions. Together, they explored strategies to encourage female participation in technology, examined challenges women face in the digital landscape, and identified opportunities for collaboration across sectors.

The roundtable underscored the important role women play in shaping a more inclusive digital future in the region. Participants committed to further supporting policies and initiatives that foster innovation and empower women-led businesses in Mardan and beyond.
