Pakistan Engages at World Urban Forum in Baku
His Excellency Mr. Khazar Farhadov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, met Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Malik at his Islamabad office to discuss deepening cooperation on urban climate challenges.
During the meeting the Ambassador commended Dr. Musadik Malik’s firm stance at the ECO meeting on climate change, highlighting the minister’s call for collective global responsibility and his critique of inconsistencies in international climate commitments. The exchange underscored Pakistan’s constructive and vocal role in advocating equitable climate action for developing countries.
Both sides reaffirmed the close, brotherly relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan and reflected on the cultural and historical ties that strengthen bilateral cooperation on environmental matters and urban development.
The Ambassador extended a formal invitation to Dr. Musadik Malik to participate in the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum in Baku from 17 to 22 May 2026. The forum was described as a timely platform to address the climate–urban nexus, promote resilience-building, and pursue collective pathways toward environmentally sustainable urban development.
Dr. Musadik Malik welcomed the invitation and emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between the two countries on climate diplomacy, urban resilience and policies that ensure fair outcomes for developing nations as they confront rapid urbanisation and climate pressures.
