Diplomatic Delegation Conducts Senate Visit in Islamabad

On 13 November 2025 Deputy Chief of Mission Zachary Harken Ryder visited Parliament House in Islamabad accompanied by his parents, Gregory L. Harken Ryder and Karen S. Harken Ryder. The delegation received a warm welcome at the Senate Secretariat before beginning their programme.

Senior Director General Tariq bin Waheed provided a comprehensive briefing on the parliamentary system, explaining the Senate’s constitutional and legislative role, parliamentary customs and the procedures that guide the upper house. The Senate visit included detailed discussion of how the chamber functions and its place within Pakistan’s democratic framework.

The guests were briefed on Pakistan’s democratic history and the Senate’s historical evolution, followed by a visit to the Senate museum where a documentary on the country’s parliamentary and constitutional milestones was shown. The museum tour added historical context to the briefing and highlighted key moments in the Senate’s development.

The delegation later observed the Senate chamber in session and expressed sincere appreciation for the Senate Secretariat’s hospitality and the detailed briefings. The visit was described as an important gesture in promoting parliamentary traditions, democratic values and continued engagement with international diplomatic representatives.
