Islamabad Food Authority Seizes 25 Maunds of Donkey Meat

The Islamabad Food Authority has seized 25 maunds of donkey meat during a major operation in the Tarnol area, revealing an illicit supply network that allegedly exported the meat abroad. The discovery comes after similar incidents were reported in Lahore and raises concerns over food safety and the illegal meat trade in the region.

According to officials, during the raid more than fifty donkeys and a large quantity of meat were recovered from the site. Dr. Tahira Siddique, Deputy Director of the Food Authority, personally supervised the operation and confirmed that the team took immediate steps to confiscate and safely dispose of the illegal meat.

A foreign national found at the scene was handed over to the police for further investigation, as authorities continue to determine the full extent of the network and which areas may have received the unapproved meat supplies. Dr. Tahira Siddique indicated that initial investigations suggest the meat was not only distributed locally but was also being supplied to foreign markets.

The Director of the Food Authority has ordered an immediate case to be registered against all those involved in the illegal activity. Food Authority teams are continuing their efforts to safely dispose of the confiscated meat and ensure strict food safety standards are upheld.

Dr. Siddique emphasized that the Food Authority is committed to ensuring the provision of safe and healthy food for the residents of the city, and will continue its efforts to combat illegal and hazardous food practices. Further investigations are underway to uncover all parties involved in the network and to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
