KPCSW Chairperson at Franco German Human Rights Event

Chairperson Dr Samira Shams of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women attended the Franco-German Human Rights Prize ceremony at the French residence on the invitation of the French ambassador. The event recognised individuals who have made notable contributions to human rights, justice and human dignity.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Samira Shams said that international recognition for human rights work becomes even more significant when taking a principled stance against political vindictiveness and standing up for vulnerable groups. She emphasised the need for sustained commitment from institutions and civil society to defend fundamental freedoms and dignity.

Dr Shams highlighted that minority communities in Pakistan face a range of challenges that require coordinated action and robust policy responses. She underlined that the commission will continue to advocate for targeted measures that promote inclusion, protection and equal access to justice for all groups.

Thanking the French ambassador for the invitation, Chairperson Dr Samira Shams reiterated the commission’s resolve that efforts to safeguard the rights, welfare and legal protections of marginalised, disadvantaged and sensitive groups will continue unabated. The KPCSW human rights mandate, she said, remains focused on protecting the most vulnerable while strengthening the rule of law.
